The Additive Manufacturing Coalition encourages Congress to continue to support the work of organizations such as America Makes, ASTM, NIST, and others to establish reliable standards, certify and validate additive manufacturing processes and establish a workable solution for validating additive parts.

We need to both continue to support the broad efforts for the validation and certification of additive manufactured parts generally, AND we need to create a funding mechanism to support the validation and certification of specific parts for the federal procurement system, particularly for small and mid-sized businesses who cannot afford the certification process on their own.
