Who We Are

The Additive Manufacturing Coalition is a national membership organization recognized as the national voice for additive manufacturing with decision-makers and stakeholders, including federal agencies and Congress. We are committed to supporting our Members before the federal government and helping them navigate funding and legislative challenges.

We are dedicated to connecting our Members with the federal government.  Our role will be to help the AM community navigate the complex legislative and public funding challenges that exist on Capitol Hill and across the federal agencies.  This will include a significant focus on the day-to-day issues that arise. The AM Coalition is intended to help bring focus and attention to the array of issues that will ultimately arise in collaboration with the existing government affairs professionals at our members. We will also provide a mechanism for some of the smaller companies and organizations to have a seat at the table as issues and positions are devised for the community.

The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), July 2025 Status

Over the last couple of weeks, both the House and Senate have introduced their separate versions of the FY 26 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).  Both bills have some significant language related to Additive Manufacturing corresponding to the issues the Additive Manufacturing Coalition advocated for during our 3rd Annual DC Fly-In May 6-8, 2025.
The AM Coalition and the participants of the Fly-In played significant roles in the development and advocacy for the language that was included in both bills.  In particular, the engagement with the Senate produced all of Section 220 of the bill, which includes a large set of key policies that we have been advocating for.  You should all be proud of the work you made for making this come to fruition.
The AM Coalition has prepared a detailed report on the provisions of both the House and Senate Bills.  Click below to read the report.
DC Legislative Fly-In Report

The Additive Manufacturing Coalition held its 3rd Annual DC Legislative Fly-In on May 6-8, 2025.  This year we had 52 participants, met with the office of the Secretary of Defense and 104 Congressional meetings.

Of particular importance was the fact that the offices had transitioned from trying to understand what Additive Manufacturing was to wanting to take action.  Meetings went exceedingly well and follow-up activities have included submitting specific language for the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) as well as other legislative suggestions.

Make sure to join us next year as we get even bigger!

Why join the coalition?

Additive Manufacturing is a critical element of both our economic prosperity and national security.  However, most policymakers have only a limited understanding of the importance and current state of development.  Furthermore, the disruptive nature of this technology will create major shifts in the way things are made going forward. We need thoughtful policies and strong funding for research and development to ensure that America wins the race to implement these new capabilities.  You need to ensure that your voice is heard as these policies are decided. You need a seat at the table, the Coalition is your path to access and engagement. Click on the link to learn about membership opportunities.
